About Us!
Hi there! We’re the Hilbig family — a crew of five about to embark on a wonderful new adventure.
We’ve made the life-changing decision to sell nearly everything we own, quit our jobs, and hit the road in a 5th wheel travel trailer to explore North America with our three young daughters. We are on an adventure to reconnect as a family by fostering exploration through the outdoors and new experiences.
Over the past seven years, we’ve followed the principles of the financial independence movement — saving strategically, simplifying our lifestyle, and making long-term financial moves. Those efforts gave us the freedom to hit pause on the traditional career path and take a mini-retirement. We’re driven by a love of the outdoors, a desire to spend more time together, and a curiosity about what life looks like when you trade the 9-5 for the freedom of the open road. This journey is about seeing new places, trying new things, and figuring it all out as a family — one stop at a time.
This blog is where we’ll document this journey and hopefully many others — the highs, the misadventures, the lessons, and the beauty — as we learn how to live together, parent full-time, and rediscover what really matters.
